Pyjamas and Portals Series
A collection of acrylic and ink drawings on high quality rag paper that began during the Covid lockdown in 2020. They show wild animals in pyjamas combined with portals opening to higher and lower realms of consciousness, emotional states, and deep stillness. They were a nod to people existing for weeks at a time in their pyjamas and living life through Zoom calls and other screen portals. Some speak to the loneliness and separation experienced, exaggerated by focusing on grayscale. Others touch on reconnecting to fresh air and nature. Made daily at first, then monthly for nearly 3 years, these drawings became cards and prints and eventually some evolved into paintings.
